Aerospace & Defense Metals
Mil-spec aluminum for flight-critical and tactical applications. We supply DFARS-compliant, domestic-melt material with full mill certifications and AS9100-traceable documentation.
Recommended Alloys
These are the primary aluminum alloys used in aerospace and defense. None should be welded — all use mechanical fastening.
7075-T6
Primary structural alloy
The highest strength-to-weight ratio in aluminum. Standard for landing gear, wing spars, and high-stress fittings. Excellent machinability with carbide tooling. Not weldable — use mechanical fasteners.
7050-T7451
Stress corrosion resistant
Near-7075 strength with superior stress corrosion cracking resistance. Preferred for thick sections and bulkhead structures. T7451 temper is stress-relieved for dimensional stability during machining.
2024-T351
Fatigue-critical applications
Excellent fatigue resistance makes it the standard for fuselage frames and damage-tolerant designs. Good machinability. Requires corrosion protection (anodize or alclad) for exposed surfaces.
New to aerospace aluminum?
Start with 7075-T6for most structural applications \u2014 it’s the industry default for a reason. Move to 7050-T7451 for thick sections needing SCC resistance, or 2024-T351 for fatigue-critical parts.
