5052-H32 Aluminum
Skid plates, fuel tanks & wheel tubs
The go-to alloy for off-road and automotive fabrication. Excellent formability for complex shapes, fully weldable with TIG or MIG, and strong corrosion resistance for undercarriage exposure. Standard for skid plates, fuel cells, wheel tubs, and custom body panels.
3003-H14 Aluminum
Heat shields & body panels
The most formable common aluminum alloy. Ideal for heat shields, inner fender panels, and any part requiring deep draws or complex bends. Lower strength than 5052 but easier to form — use where shape matters more than structural load.
304 Stainless Steel
Exhaust components & trim
Heat and corrosion resistant to 1500°F — standard for exhaust manifold heat shields, header wraps, and decorative trim. Resists road salt and underbody moisture. Available in sheet, plate, and tube for exhaust fabrication.
Building an off-road rig?
Start with 5052-H32 aluminumfor skid plates, fuel tanks, and wheel tubs — it’s weldable, formable, and corrosion resistant. Use 3003 for heat shields and inner panels. Add 304 stainless for anything near the exhaust.
