Recommended Alloys
Selected for machinability, dimensional stability, and chip control.
MIC-6 Cast Plate
Jig plates & fixtures
The CNC shop standard — guaranteed ±0.005”/ft flatness, stress-free internal structure, machines beautifully with minimal distortion. Purpose-built for jig plates, vacuum tables, and precision fixtures.
6061-T651
General machining
The budget-friendly workhorse. T651 temper is stress-relieved for dimensional stability during machining. Good chip formation, excellent surface finish, and widely available in all forms.
303 Stainless
Precision turning
The best-machining stainless steel grade. Free-machining properties from added sulfur make it ideal for screw-machine parts, shafts, and tight-tolerance components. Trade-off: reduced corrosion resistance vs 304.
2011 Aluminum
Free-machining screw stock
The free-machining aluminum standard with a 90% machinability rating. Produces excellent chip breakage for high-speed automatic screw machine operations. Available in round bar form.
